Deutsche Gesellschaft für Angiologie, Gesellschaft für Gefäßmedizin e.V. (DGA)

The German Society for Angiology/Vascular Medicine (DGA) is a non-profit organization which was founded in 1972 and represents more than 1,000 vascular medicine (angiology) professionals in Germany. Its mission is to reduce the burden of arterial, venous and lymphatic vascular disease through science and education including publication of guidelines. The DGA includes six commissions working on different issues within the field of angiology/vascular medicine, e.g. guidelines and quality assurance or teaching and promoting young researchers.

The annual scientific congress plays a central role in the scientific exchange of the members of the society and in education of vascular physicians and nurses. The DGA is also working on public campaigns, such as the awareness campaigns on thrombosis and pulmonary embolism or peripheral arterial disease and provides information for patients, primary care physicians, specialists and stakeholders in health care about vascular diseases and disorders.
